Are rooms on campus accommodation accessible?
We have some accessible housing options and will work closely with you and our wellbeing support team, to make any reasonable adjustments you might need.

Can I apply for university accommodation if I am studying at a partner college?
We can only accept students who are attending Bird College in our halls of residence.

Can I change my mind about living in halls after I've accepted the offer and signed my license agreement?
Yes, if you change your mind after you have made your booking you can request a cancellation online.

Can I have visitors in my halls of residence?
Yes, but you are responsible for making sure your visitor knows about the hall regulations and that they know what to do if the fire alarm sounds.

Can I leave my halls of residence before my licence ends?
You can leave your hall at any time but you will be responsible for paying the fees until the end of the licence.

Can I live with my friends?
If you are a current student then you can book as a friend group.

Can I smoke in my halls of residence room?
No, the university has a no smoking policy throughout its buildings (this includes vaping).

Can I stay in halls of residence for the summer vacation?
In January, an application for summer housing will open to everyone who lives in halls.

Can I stay in halls of residence over Christmas and Easter?
Yes, the licence agreement period includes Christmas and Easter holiday periods.

Do I get my accommodation deposit back?
Your deposit is a pre-payment of fees, so you can take it off your first payment.

Do you offer housing for families/partners?
We do not have any spaces in hall for your family or friends who are not students at the university.

How are my accommodation instalments calculated?
Your licence agreement will show you how much you are being charged for your room.

How can I complain about noise?
If you experience any noise issues during your stay you can contact accommodation services directly.

How can I pay for my accommodation fees/deposit?
When you book your room you will be sent a link to pay your deposit.

How close is the halls to campus?
We have halls of residence on the Avery Hill and Medway campuses, and in the local community close to the Greenwich campus.

If you change your mind and would like a different Hall or a different room type, then you can take a look at the options for changing your room.

Greenwich Students Union can assist you with any requirements for a guarantor if you are an International/EU student.

I'm in halls of residence - where can I do my laundry?
There is laundrettes available for halls of residence members on all three campuses.

In the twin studio, do I need to need to know the other person/have someone to move in with. And do they need to be a University student?
You do not need to know the person you live with and when you book in, you can leave your contact details so you can chat to them before you arrive.

This will depend on upon the time we receive your application.

If you are experiencing issues, the best thing is to get in touch with our supplier directly.

What can I do if I'm struggling to use the laundry service?
Colleagues in the laundry service are available to help or to answer questions.

What do I do if I don’t like my flatmates?
We know you might be worried about meeting new people and getting used to sharing a kitchen or other facilities with your new flatmates.

What if I can’t pay my accommodation fees?
You can talk to a member of the team about your payment options and also to our student finance team.

What should I bring with me when I move into accommodation?
You need to bring bedding, cooking equipment, bathroom items and personal items.

When can I apply for accommodation?
If you are a new student joining the university for the first time, you can book from 10th March after firmly accepting your offer to study.

When do I move into my halls of residence?
Halls will always open for new residents to move in the weekend before the start of the new academic term and university induction weeks.

When do I need to pay my accommodation fees by?
If you are moving into halls in September, then your first payment is due by 30th September.

When will I get an offer of accommodation?
You will be able to book your room at the same time as making an application.

Where do I check in to halls?
When you have completed your online check in, you will be emailed with your address and everything you need to know for your arrival.

Who are the RAs?
RAs are Resident Assistants. They are students we recruit each year to assist us in the management of halls.

You can reach our maintenance team by reporting the issue to your hall team through phone or app.
