Currently you can claim extenuating circumstances (EC) as many times as you need. But if you have too much outstanding work at the end of the year you may not be able to progress onto your next level of study. If work is building up and you are submitting multiple EC claims a year there are other offers of help you should consider.

• Take a break from your studies for the rest of the academic year. This is called an 'interruption' and is useful if you are having longer term difficulties. Read our Interruption, Withdrawal & Transfer Policy.

• If you're newly diagnosed with a long-term condition you've not been able to confirm to us before speak to the Student Wellbeing team for support with your new life/work balance.

• If you're struggling with your studies or have an issue that's affecting them go to the university's Wellbeing Hub or visit the Students' Union advice hub.
